The One Book, One School selection for RMS summer reading is Front Desk, by Kelly Yang. We are so excited for our rising 6th, 7th and 8th graders to read Front Desk over the summer and to hear their thoughts in September.As a reminder, Front Desk will be the basis of several activities in September. The expectation is all RMS students will read it over the summer. If you are in need of a copy, the RMS main office has copies available to borrow over the summer (please return when finished), and the public library has purchased additional copies as well. We have many fun activities in the works and we want all students to be able to participate fully!

When Stars are ScatteredRMS One Book One School2021-2022Please join us in announcing our latest One Book One School selection,When Stars are Scattered by Victoria Jamieson and Omar Mohamed.It's a fantastic non-fiction graphic novel that tells the story of Omar's walk from Somalia to Dadaab, a refugee camp in Kenya, after his village is destroyed. With his parents gone, Omar is left to care for his brother who has undiagnosed cognitive disabilities. Omar spends years in Dadaab, searching for his lost mother, praying for a life outside of the refugee camp, and wishing for a real future.Please take some time to read this book over the summer!Below is a book review from one of our rising 7th graders:"So, this book was amazing! I mean, like really amazing! I might have to read it again, and I probably will, because I did finish it in like 2 hours, and I couldn't stop reading! It Wasn't MeByDana Alison LevyOne Book, One School2020-2021In case you haven't heard the big news, the One Book, One School Committee has selected It Wasn't Me by Dana Alison Levy as our 2020-2021 summer selection!To fully participate in everything we have planned, all middle school students are required to read It Wasn't Me prior to the first day of school. You may purchase a copy for your child or borrow one from the Haddon Township Public Library.Summer reading is not limited to just teachers and students - we encourage parents and guardians to share in this experience by reading the book with their children. FISH IN A TREEbyLynda Mullaly HuntOne Book, One School2018-2019In case you haven’t heard the big news, the One Book, One School Committee has selected Fish in a Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt as our summer selection!
In a recent student survey, the students requested more activities related to One Book, One School, so we have risen to the challenge and designed an entire marking period of lessons, crafts, assemblies, and more! To fully participate in everything we have planned, all middle school students are required to read Fish In a Tree prior to the first day of school. Your child may purchase their own copy, or they may borrow a copy of the book from either the Haddon Township Public Library or the main office at Rohrer Middle School.
The summer reading is not limited to just teachers and students—we encourage all parents to share in this experience by reading the book with their children. The community involvement is what makes this program so successful!

Q & A with Wendy Mass
Author of Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life
June 6, 2016RMS students had the great fortune of meeting author Wendy Mass at a special event at Barnes and Noble in Cherry Hill. Wendy Mass' novel, Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life, was recently selected as the middle school's One Book, One School selection! Students presented the author with a signed thank you card and great time was had by all.
